Recruiting metrics are generally the most commonly tracked in an organization. The most typical staffing metrics are time to fill and cost per hire. Some companies have taken recruiting metrics a step further, tracking a number of important metrics including quality of new hires. The HR Metrics Center's tools make it easy for members to build and track over forty HR metrics including several recruiting metrics:
- Cost per hire
- Time to fill
- Open positions as a percent of total staff
- Quality of new hires
- Offer acceptance rate
Recruiting metrics are a good first step into the work of HR metrics and benchmarking since they are typically very quantifiable, important to management and easily understood. Once these staffing measurements are used and understood by the organization, the HR function can introduce other HR metrics to the company.
